Julie Amor If you’ve heard the growing national buzz about the University of Kansas Hospital, it’s probably in part because of the efforts of Julie Amor, the hospital’s marketing director. The 39-year-old Amor’s background in academic medicine has been a factor in contributing to the hospital’s regional and national recognition as a leading medical center, but it’s her focus on empowering patients that has made Amor’s peers sit up and take notice. “I have focused on empowering women—who make their household’s healthcare decisions—to create healthy lifestyles today and to impact future generations to come,” says Amor, who is married and has two children herself. “I hope to inspire my children to make contributions to society and find ways to leave the world a little better than they found it.” Amor does her part to make the world a little better: she serves on the Chief Marketing Officers Council for the University Health System Consortium and on the National Benchmarking Committee for the Health Care Advisory Board. “My ability to give back to the community through heightened awareness of the hospital’s benefits has brought me great pride,” she says. |

Jason Beer When it comes to building a company from the ground up, Jason Beer has firsthand experience. The 38-year-old Vice President of Operations has been with Freightquote.com, Inc. since its start-up days in the late 1990s. Today, the company manages more than 700,000 shipments a year and earned approximately $400 million last year. Beer’s efforts have played a role in that success. Beer established the company’s sales programs and processes and spearheaded recruitment for the company’s sales team, which now consists of 300 members. Now he refines existing products and develops new ones. “I deeply value being able to directly contribute to the growth of Freightquote and influence the direction of the company,” Beer says. In addition to contributing to the success of Freighquote.com, Beer uses his knowledge to assist local start-up business ventures. He serves on the Board of Directors for North Kansas City-based SipVine, Inc. and has con-sulted with other small businesses around the area. He’s also active in another kind of growth industry: coaching soccer, baseball, football and basketball for his three children. |
